Let’s start this off with the truth: SEO cannot be overstated for startups. For a little over a year now, SEO has been the main service offered by Be Uniic – specifically SEO for startups. In that time, we’ve seen the transformative power of an effective SEO strategy. There’s also been a lot of skepticism from startup founders, especially when we’ve advocated for self-sufficiency in SEO among startups. The common, and most damning misconception is that SEO is a complex, mystical realm that only a select few can navigate. However, startups should invest heavily into SEO to scale their business and take charge of their online presence.
URLs: We find your site via a URL. It should be concise and intuitive. Research even backs the efficacy of short URLs not just for user-friendliness, but also for better rankings in the SERPs. Incorporating a keyword into the URL can also enhance visibility and user engagement, however, some companies struggle with this because of their brand being the URL…
Titles: Each page on your site not only deserves a unique title, but it needs one. Focus on one topic to avoid keyword cannibalization. The title should also be under 60 characters, include a main keyword, and also mention your brand name at the end. This can help to significantly increase your CTR and rankings.
Meta Descriptions: Think of these as a page summary. They should be unique to each page if we think of them as so. Keep them under 155 characters to prevent truncation and include main and relevant keywords into them so they’ll rank on the SERPs.
Headings: Structure your content using a unique heading. There should be at least one H1 tag per page to signify the primary focus. You can further refine your SEO strategy by differentiating the H1 from the primary page title.
Keyword Research: While this one is a little further down on the list, and some people may disagree with us, keyword research is the top priority in order to ensure the success of your SEO campaign. It will help you understand your own path to ranking, the competitive landscape, and help you to identify the keywords for your products/services/offer. When it’s all said and done, keyword research will also help you inform your content strategy!
Content Optimization: Use the keyword research mentioned above to develop relevant, unique, engaging, and valuable content for your right fit audience across your site, not just blog articles. Regular optimization ensures your site remains relevant, competitive, and credible.
Internal Links: One thing we love at Be Uniic is a good internal linking strategy. We have to do one ourselves! However, this will ensure all valuable pages are easily accessible, enhancing both user experience and search engine indexing efficiency.
